Space, Speed and Style for Sale with Lady Amanda

Couach, the French shipbuilder behind some of the world’s most luxurious yachts, has been in business for well over 100 years. Throughout its history - from building the world’s first marine engines, to military shipbuilding, up to its 2009 rebrand as Chantier Naval Couach - craftsmanship and engineering have remained at the very heart of the business.

Known for its impeccable design and engineering, the builder’s luxury motor yachts feature a deep "V" shaped hull, making them ideal for speed and comfortable cruising in all-weather conditions.

Ashley Oberholzer is the Captain of Lady Amanda, a 29.68m Couach-designed yacht based in Cannes, which is available for sale through West Nautical. He says he was impressed by the simplicity and precision of the Couach brand, as well as the design of Lady Amanda, when he first took on the role in 2017.

He explained: “When it comes to the actual building of the boat, it’s beautifully simple and it’s very reliable. The electrical system is very well thought out and it’s made with almost military precision, you can see the planning behind everything. It’s almost like you could take it apart and put it back together easily – the way it is built is very logical.”

He continued: “All of the engineering is very compact, making the engine room very spacious so you can access everything with ease. I was impressed by how organised it is and how easy it is to complete any repairs or maintenance, which is a great advantage for a yacht of this size.”

Aside from her engine room, Ashley also praised how the boat handles. “I haven’t seen a boat that handles as well as that boat does”, he said. “Her centre of gravity is very low and the engine is extremely responsive. Once she gets to cruising speed she just flies.”

Before Lady Amanda’s current owner enjoyed his first cruise on board, no expense was spared preparing her for the 2018 summer season. A major overhaul of the engines was completed, along with a complete service of her generators, air conditioning and water systems. Add to that a new paint job of the hull and superstructure, new table and seating on the aft deck, and re-upholstery of all of the yachts cushions – and Lady Amanda is a fully renewed yacht in excellent condition.

Lady Amanda may boast very sleek and sporty DNA, but the Couach brand’s reputation for quality is evidenced by just how bright and spacious she is throughout. She is surprisingly agile but offers plenty of living space inside and on her decks.

Ashley said: “She is a 30m boat in total but can sneak into smaller spaces. She can fit into all the major ports in the Mediterranean easily as she’s small enough not to have any size constraints but she’s big enough to have room for everybody - not to mention she has more toys than a 50m!”

This combination of size and an exciting selection of toys could be part of what makes Lady Amanda such a popular charter yacht, having booked over 60 nights of charter in the summer of 2018. This is an impressive statistic considering she did not enter the summer charter market until June, providing the owner great charter income to offset running costs. Even more impressive is the charter guest feedback. “Lady Amanda has a 100% guest satisfaction record from last summer, with every single guest making positive comments about the yacht and their experience on board”, says Ashley.

The current owner has made a massive investment in toys including two 5.5m tenders, a 5m slide, an ocean pool, a Jet Ski and Seabobs, she’s an ideal yacht for families and groups looking for a fun-filled break.

Despite the sensational range of toys and extras, Lady Amanda is ideal for much more than just water sports charter, she’s also well-suited to a relaxing break in the Mediterranean.

Ashley explained: “Because of her speed and agility, even the shortest charters can enjoy relaxing charters with quick cruises between Cannes, St Tropez and Monaco. This is a very versatile boat and if you need to get somewhere in a hurry, we can get there fast to maximise chillout time.”

Lady Amanda’s sleek interior has also been designed with comfort and enjoyment in mind. The interior is immaculate following her winter 2017/18 improvements.  Ashley explained: “The salon has very large windows, a tv, a bar, a wine cooler, and there’s a table that doubles up as a whisky bar! The galley is very spacious for the size of the yacht, with a brand-new oven and fridge and a large passthrough which can be opened or closed for privacy depending on guest preference. The salon is very well designed, with an interior dining table to seat eight people.”

Her interior benefits from a bright and spacious salon and accommodation for nine guests in four ensuite cabins, made up of one master, one VIP and two doubles, one with a Pullman bed. An additional Pullman bed will soon be added, extending accommodation to ten guests. The interior has been kept light and airy throughout, with pristine white carpets, white ceilings, and a porthole in every cabin that ensures guests enjoy natural light on her lower deck.

Externally, she offers spacious deck areas, including a fabulous sundeck with fly bridge, bar, large dining area and Jacuzzi, ideal for entertaining guests or relaxing in the sunshine. The fore deck features large sunbathing pads, while the aft deck benefits from a large bench seating area and a recently added additional seating and table area.

With her Kevlar hull and powered by two MTU diesel engines, Lady Amanda delivers an impressive cruising speed of 26 knots and a maximum speed of 30 knots.

Lady Amanda is currently located in Cannes and is available for sale for €2,500,000. She is well worth seeing and is a turnkey yacht purchase option for a new owner looking to step on board and enjoy the summer 2019 season.
